St Devenick's

Middle Church

Middle Church is for ages 9-12 to come and learn about God’s word in an interactive age appropriate way.

We meet on Sunday mornings during the main church service in our own little space, the upper room.  On the 1st Sunday of the month, we are all in the main church for our family service.

A typical session includes games, bible readings, activities to help us go deeper into the text we are studying, prayer (which can take various forms) and memory verses.

We also love to meet together for social events to help deepen friendships within the group as well as meeting with other kids from churches across the Aberdeen and Orkney Diocese.

A few times a year we join with the other kids from the Diocese to have a “lock-in” in one of our churches. With lots of games, teaching and time to hang out with our friends in church, these are always very popular with our kids.

At St Devenick’s we believe not only in learning God’s word but living out our faith.  So we try to encourage our young people to be “lights” where they are and reach out to care for others.  In the past we have done this through participating in Operation Christmas Child, where we pack shoeboxes with gifts to send to children who don’t have very much.  And our MC group recently planned a big fundraiser where they took part in a sponsored cycle, hosted a movie night and slept rough in cardboard boxes for the evening to raise money to build toilets in some of the poorest communities in the world.

Everyone is welcome to join our group.  It is our hope and prayer that our young people come to know God personally and develop a close fellowship together as well as being an important part of our church family.
