Lay Reader - Stephen Goodyear

Stephen is married to Helen and they have two grown up children. He worked for Shell, where he was manager for gas flooding, supporting enhanced oil recovery and CO2 storage projects around the world, until retiring in 2021. After studying mathematics at university he undertook a PhD in theoretical physics at Edinburgh, and has a particular interest in the relationship between faith and science. He enjoys DIY, fossil collecting and is a keen hill walker (Munros done, Corbetts an ongoing project!).

Youth Pastor - Donna Kriel

Donna has been working at St Devenick’s since she graduated in 2011. She studied Architecture and town planning but felt a call into youth ministry after coming to faith during university. She is married to Jannie and they have two sons. She loves art & crafts, is a sports fan, particularly loves watching football and rugby and all things Harry Potter.

People’s Warden - Helen Goodyear

Helen and Stephen have lived in Bieldside since 2002. Helen is a musician and primary teacher by training and is involved in the life of St Devenick’s in a variety of ways. She plays regularly for services, as well as teaching a few flute pupils. Helen enjoys being a housewife and mum, relaxing with friends, knitting and crocheting and going for walks in the woods or by the river.

June MacCormack (Deaconness)

June has two married sons and three grandchildren. She has many years of service at St Devenick’s behind her, most notably working with the children. June completed the Diocesan Training for Ministry Course in 1984 and was made Deaconess in 1986.

Rob Cooper (Lay member)

Rob is married to Anne and they have 2 adult children with families. (one in Shetland and the other in Haddington). He spent the majority of his career working as a geophysicist for BP, Elf and Total from which he retired in 2015. Rob came to faith in the fresher’s week at Bath University where he studied Applied Physics with Geophysics. After working for 4 years in seismic data processing he did a master’s degree in Exploration Geophysics at Imperial College. He plays a little badminton and is involved in the Friends of Friarsfield Park with the aim of helping the park to look its best.

Vestry

Members of the Vestry are the charity trustees of St Devenick’s and have responsibility for the oversight of all aspects of the life and ministry of the church.
